Expand your life, and make a difference
As I am about to enter my senior year in September, I would like to enrich myself with meaningful activities and make a difference to the community during this summer holiday.
One of my plans is to complete a summer internship at the Singapore Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, a non-profit organization established in China that aims to facilitate business and exchange rates between its members and expand economic relations between China and Singapore. An internship is one of the activities that you can make the most of your summer holiday by gaining real work experience, yet, choosing an internship that suits your interest is crucial; it does not just make you more socially engaged but also helps you expand your knowledge in specific expertise that you are fascinated with.
Besides working, I am also planning for monthly adoption days for a charity that I am involved in — “Bark4Life.”
Attending or being involved in the organizing process shapes me to become a better problem solver and communicator.
At the same time, the activity is rewarding as my involvement help more stray animals to find a deserving home.
Suggestion for other activities you can do in summer: Sign up for a summer camp/class.
Summer camps can be indoor and outdoor. As a student, you need to relax over the summer to better prepare yourself for the next school year. Find your interests or something you have always wanted to try, such as hiking, dancing, learning a new language, sports camps, etc.
A summer camp can help you immerse yourself in that subject. Furthermore, people with similar interests will surround you. Most importantly, it gives you a better understanding of the careers you may want to pursue in the future!
