Making the transition to Grade 6

MY experience at WISS passing to Middle School was phenomenal.

We began last year with Step Up Day. It is a day when Grade 5 gets to spend a regular school day in Grade 6. It was a great day for me, because I could see what Grade 6 was going to be like.

It was stunning. I was able to see all the classes and meet the teachers. I thought that the following year was going to be wonderful.

Once in Grade 6, I thought it was incredible, especially the first few weeks of school. I think later it will be harder, but still remain enjoyable. We have a bit more homework every day and we have less time to complete it, compared to Grade 5. Moving to Grade 6 is a big step because I think there is more responsibility and you need to have better time management skills.

I like all my teachers. They’re delightful and respectful. There are different teachers for every subject. I also like that there are various levels of every subject and you are allowed to change higher if it is easy and lower if you find it hard. I also like moving to other classes instead of staying in one and the teacher walking you around everywhere. I also enjoy that you could go to the cafe whenever you want during break and lunch time.

When I was in Grade 5, I liked the feeling when they said Grade 6 has more freedom and responsibility. When they said homework though, I felt it was going to be a lot, but in reality, it has not been so much yet.

I think WISS did an awesome job preparing me for Middle School. Like I said before, it is very different regarding rules, responsibilities and time management. But it is enjoyable and I am having fun learning.
