General introduction
HANGZHOU, one of the first Chinese cities to host large exhibitions, held the First West Lake Expo in 1929.
With the goal of improving product quality and developing industries, the expo was the first of its kind in China, lasted for 128 days and attracted more than 20 million visitors.
Nowadays known as a huge tourism city, Hangzhou °?- the provincial capital of Zhejiang Province in eastern China - resurrected the expo in 2000. The West Lake Expo Museum was also built on the original site of the industrial hall at the 1929 West Lake Expo to commemorate that spectacular event and to create a platform for the convention and exhibition industry in Hangzhou. It opened on December 1, 2003.This year, the expo celebrates its 11th anniversary from October 17 to November 7.
Logo
The Hangzhou Expo logo is made up of a modified lotus leaf and sparkling dewdrops which represent the graceful and dynamic city and West Lake. Like fluttering colorful festival ribbons, the lotus leaf means a welcome to guests from afar. And the dewdrops imply that distinguished guests and high-quality products will gather at the West Lake International Expo. The logo also symbolizes the green mountains and clean water in Hangzhou as well as the peaceful, harmonious and vital environment of West Lake.
