Photos of Chubby Tigers in Harbin Go Viral
Pictures of chubby tigers lolling around at Siberia Tiger Park in Harbin, capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, have been circulating on social media.
The photos, first posted on Sina Weibo by a local netizen on January 26, were later shared on the official account of the Harbin Tourism Bureau and immediately went viral.
Some netizens joked that they looked like Chinese people after eating a lot during the week-long Spring Festival holiday. "Admit it, this is you after Chinese New Year," said one. However, other netizens raised concerns over the health of the tigers.
Chinanews.com quoted a park staff as saying that it was natural for the tigers to eat more during winter. The report said the animals looked fat in the photos online probably because of the camera angle.
The park also provided new photos of the tigers, and welcomed netizens to visit the park and compare the pictures.
