Woman Protects Daughter in Accident, But Will Lose Unborn Baby
A woman was pictured protecting her 2-year-old daughter while she lay badly injured after the motorcycle she was on crashed into a concrete mixer truck at an intersection in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, on February 27, Qianjiang Evening News reported.
Her husband, who was riding the motorcycle, injured his right leg.
Surveillance camera footage showed the motorcycle was heading straight while the truck turned right at the intersection. All the three people on the motorcycle rolled under the truck.
The mother protected the child with her body. The baby was unharmed.
The couple was rushed to the hospital where the woman had her right leg amputated.
The woman, who was also five months pregnant, would likely lose her unborn baby due to the medicines.
A witness said neither the motorcycle nor the truck were at a high speed. The truck driver admitted that he did not see the motorcycle as it happened to be a blind area.
Police said both sides had to take the blame for the accident as the father was riding an unlicensed motorcycle in the wrong lane without a driving license while the truck driver didn't slow down to let the motorbike pass first.
