There is nothing more romantic than going on a honeymoon trip with your new spouse. A couple from Belgium decided to make sweet memories in China and planned a 35-day trip.

However, as both of them are fresh college graduates, their budget was just 4,000 yuan in total. No surprisingly, they experienced a serious hitch on the halfway.

The newly-weds, Royer and Vertriest, started their trip to China on June 12. Hitchhiking along the road, the couple was sometimes refused, People's Daily reported.

They visited Beijing, Datong, Suzhou and spent most nights in their tent.

However, when they arrived in Chongqing on July 5, they got lost. After running out of food, the couple had to ask for help.

The couple attempted to ask for help from a driver passing by, but were unable due to language barriers. They then had to call police for help.

Police officers took them to the police station and provided them with food and drink.

According to the report, with only 1,100 yuan left, the couple now plans to go to Zhangjiajie, a famous tourist site in China.

Police officer helped them to plan an itinerary and wrote down in both English and Chinese to make it easier for the couple to ask for directions.

Chinese netizens saw the report and commented that the couple should take 4,000 US dollars but not RMB at all.
