Man Buys Used Boeing Aircraft for 8 Million Yuan
A 30-year-old man from Guanghan City in southwest China’s Sichuan Province purchased a retired Boeing 737-300 aircraft in the United States. However, the shipping and assembling fees were even higher than the plane itself.
The man surnamed Ning has long been an aircraft mania since he was a child. He bought the plane in June for over 3 million yuan (US$447,761), excluding shipping fee.
The engines and electronic devices onboard have been removed. Ning even entrusted an aviation technology company in Beijing that specializes in import and export to set up a five-people team to deal with the shipping issues.
It took the staff more than one week to disassemble the airplane and put all the parts into 16 containers, which were later shipped from Arizona on September 26.
Ning said that the airplane will be assembled in Beijing and then transferred to Guanghan. It will be placed in an aviation culture park next to the Civil Aviation Flight University of China.
The expenses covering shipping and assembling cost Ning more than 5 million yuan, including installing a million-yuan flight simulation system.
