13-Year-Old Boy Praised on Net For Clearing Metro Flyers
Photos of a junior schoolboy cleaning up advertising leaflets pasted inside the carriage along Shanghai’s Metro Line 12 have gone viral online. Web users appreciated the boy’s voluntary act.
The boy, a grade-one student from Dongchang Middle School, started cleaning illegal flyers in February on his way home from school and brings home a thick pile of flyers everyday or throws them in the station’s trash bin.
He once saw a man cover the carriage with flyers within only 10 seconds, with flyers on one hand and glue on another. After the man left, he began cleaning the ads as he said he couldn’t bear it anymore. Now he cleans up all the posters during eight stops back home.
His deskmate at school has been influenced by him and helped him clean up. Shanghai’s rail transport authorities came to the boys’ school at the beginning of May and rewarded their behavior.
