Doctor Saves Elderly Man Who Fainted During Qingming
A doctor in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, has become the latest Internet sensation after photos of her performing CPR on an elderly man who fainted were widely shared on social media.
The incident happened on the first day of the Qingming Holiday, when people went to the Hangwu Mountain in Xiaoshan District to sweep tombs.
Qianjiang Evening News quoted a witness surnamed Shen as saying that she saw a man lying on the ground at around 10am but people around him didn't know how to save him. At that time, a woman rushed to the man, saying she was a doctor.
Shen said the woman kept performing CPR on the man until the ambulance arrived 20 minutes later.
The man was sent to TCM Hospital of Xiaoshan District where he was admitted to the ICU after emergency treatment. A doctor surnamed Han said the man, 62, probably fainted after the Qingtuan (a sticky rice dumpling traditional at Qingming) he ate blocked his airway.
According to the report, the woman, Zhu Yunfei, is a doctor from Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine (Xiasha Branch).
She went to sweep tombs with his sister on April 2. When she heard someone had fainted, she rushed to help without any hesitation. She found the man's lips purple and he wasn't breathing and had no pulse, so she immediately took first-aid measures.
