Girl Disfigured by Burns Braves the Horrible Past
A young woman who was disfigured in 2011 by a schoolmate pouring gasoline on her and setting it alight has released a series of photos showing how much she’s suffered.
Zhou Yan, from Hefei, capital city of Anhui Province, was attacked by Tao Rukun after she rejected his love.
Though Zhou suffered more than 30% burns all over her body and even lost an ear, she never thought of giving up.
Zhou, now 21, posted photos of herself on Weibo on August 16, in which the scars on her face and all over her body can clearly be seen.
The post has got more than 45,000 likes and 18,000 comments. Many netizens praised Zhou for her bravery and positive attitude. Someone said, "Even the scars cannot cover your beauty." "We will always support you. Cheer up, girl!"
According to media reports, Zhou finally got 1.8 million yuan (US$271,000) in compensation in March this year.
She is now doing small business on WeChat.
