A man who was waiting for an elevator at a hospital in Qingdao City in Shandong Province damaged his iPhone after a group of medical staff rushing a critically ill patient on a bed banged into him.
The medical staff did not notice the mobile phone that he dropped on the ground. The man, Cui Yanping, did not complain about his damaged phone. Instead he picked it up and took the elevator.
Another doctor Li Xiaochuan, who noticed the incident, asked Cui about the phone. Cui showed him the damaged phone but also said that the medical staff was not at fault as they were busy trying to save the life of a patient. Li was moved by his response and posted the story on his social media account.
The hospital’s medical team decided to contribute 1 yuan (15 US cents) each to buy him a new mobile phone. By Wednesday, they had raised nearly 4,000 yuan.
Cui's iPhone 6s Plus costs at least 5,388 yuan.
