Yan Zhaogen, 82, was scheduled to undergo a surgery that day due to fracture. She was so nervous that she shivered all over with tears pouring down her eyes.
Nurse Zhao Kaili, 24, embraced Yan to comfort her. The picture was taken by one of Zhao’s colleagues and uploaded online. Netizens applauded Zhao’s act.
The operation lasted three hours. Zhao later went to chat Yan after she was moved to the ward. Zhao said she had simply done what all medical staff in their department would do.
