Woman Who Never Painted Until 60 Turns Star At 70
The painter behind these artistic paintings is an amateur who began to learn this art when she became 60.
Sounds astonishing?
Shao Bingfeng, now 70, began to paint just a decade ago. She didn’t have any professional training before.
She had been farmer, private school teacher, embroidery craftswoman and accountant before being what she call herself nowadays -- an “artist.”
Over a decade, she has painted hundreds of works on subjects of family, childhood fun and surrealism.
Her paintings are on display at the 798 Art District gallery in Beijing. Even a French art gallery has collected 200 of her artworks.
Shao’s love of art sprouts from her everyday life.
Shao began doodling animals and portraits on paper with her daughter's painting materials while looking after her grandson at home.
Her daughter and son-in-law would be pleasantly surprised after seeing her paintings.
Her son-in-law even applauded her works as those art pieces from famous British painter David Hockney. They found rare serenity and naivety in her paintings.
Here are Shao's portraits of some celebrities:
Never too old to learn, isn't it?
