Tourists anger netizens after manhandling a seagull to take pictures
Tourists who captured a seagull to take pictures has angered people on social media.
Photographs posted on Weibo by a netizen, named @20lingba, on Monday, showed a group of tourists on a passenger ship to Dalian’s Haxian Island, being cruel to a seagull.
Travelers on the boat took turns tightly holding the head, neck and wings of the bird and took snaps of it.
The seagull was one of dozens following the vessel but the only one captured after being enticed onboard by food.
The angry netizen warned the travelers about the fragility of the bird’s wings, which could break if manhandled roughly.
However, the comment brought an angry response from the group of people who dismissed the girl’s alarm.
The netizen felt so incensed that she exposed their unruly and inappropriate behavior on Weibo, which soon enraged fellow netizens.
Several comments saying their behavior was “shameful and inhumane” quickly appeared online. Another saw the group as “tourists with no quality and self-awareness at all.”
Fortunately, the seagull was freed after the pictures were taken and it appears no harm came to the bird.
