Two women in Wuxi County, Chongqing City, have been detained for claiming to drive away worms with chopsticks.
The two middle-aged women, surnamed Wei and Chen, "practiced medicine" on the street with tools that included chopsticks and handkerchief.
On May 25, they used two chopsticks to rub the eyes and noses of people to “pull out” worms. It turned out that they got the worms themselves which they then “pulled out” from unsuspecting people.
They also claimed that they could extract more worms that could offer relief to people struggling with eye diseases. The victims were ordered to pay between 20 to 200 yuan for the service.
But they soon caught the attention of the police who came to check their identities.
The two women were from Tianmen, Hubei Province, and had only recently come to Wuxi with the intention to cheat. They are now in detention.
