Woman Abusing Cat Made Apology in Video

A woman in Lijiang, Yunnan Province, triggered fury across the Internet for peeling off the skin of a British shorthair.
The woman surnamed Wang paid 2,560 yuan (US$370) for this five-month-old white cat on January 3 at a pet shop owned by a woman surnamed Sheng.
However, two days later Wang wanted to return the cat and asked for refund as she said she couldn't afford to keep it due to high cost. Although the shop owner Sheng said pets sold are not refundable, she agreed to sell the cat at the shop on behalf of Wang.
On January 8, Sheng found the skinless cat in a black paper bag in front of her shop. Netizens burst into rage after someone posted the photo on Weibo.
Wang then made an apology video on January 10, in which she said she was irrational at that time and asked for forgiveness for having done something in an extreme way. However, she said she didn’t kill and peel the cat herself, but asked someone at a farm to do it.
The case is now being investigated by the police.
