12 killed in Baghdad attack: Al-Jazeera

TWELVE people were killed and several others wounded in a bomb attack in northeastern Baghdad today as Iraqis voted in parliamentary elections, pan-Arab al- Jazeera TV reported.

The blast occurred in the northeastern district of Ur, the report added.

Earlier in the day, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua that a powerful explosion destroyed a building in Ur, without providing further details.

Another explosion ripped through a building in the al-Shurta al- Rabia neighborhood in southwestern Baghdad, killing four people and wounding eight others, the source said on condition of anonymity.

The incidents took place in the morning as many bomb attacks rocked several areas in the capital, including the heavy fortified Green Zone that houses Iraqi government offices and some foreign embassies, the source said.
