14 killed in Denver shooting while watching 'The Dark Knight Rises'

A gunman killed at least 14 people and injured 50 others early today at a cinema in Denver showing new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises," local KUSA-TV reported.

Witnesses said the gunman wearing a gas mask opened fire and set off a type of smoke or tear gas bomb at the Century Theater in Aurora Mall outside Denver.

Local radio KOA said 30 to 40 people were injured and some may have been killed in the shooting.

CNN reported at least 20 people were being treated for gunshot wounds, three of them in serious condition.

Police and firefighters were rushing to the mall after the incident and police said the suspected gunman was in custody.
