2 killed, 43 injured in Algeria earthquake

TWO people were killed and 43 others injured in an earthquake measuring 5.2 degrees on the Richter scale that shook northeast Algeria yesterday, the Interior Ministry said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 7 km northwest of the city of Melouza in the province of M'sila, a source from the ministry was quoted as saying by the official news agency APS.

Of the 43 injured people, 23 are kept under medical surveillance while the others have left the hospital, the source added.
