2 minor girls gangraped in Indian capital

TWO minor girls have been gangraped in the Indian capital in separate incidents, a senior police official said Saturday.

"The first incident took place in west Delhi's Nangloi area on Friday evening when a two-and-a-half years old girl was abducted from near her home and gangraped by two men," he said.

The victim was found lying bleeding and unconscious at a nearby park, the official said, adding she has been admitted to a government hospital where her condition is said to be serious.

The second incident took place in east Delhi's Anand Vihar area on Friday when a five-year-old girl was gangraped by three men, including one of her neighbors, he said.

"While no one has been arrested in connection with the first incident, all three suspects in the second incident were nabbed," the official said.

Gang rapes continue unabated in Delhi, despite the Indian government bringing in tough laws against sexual assaults in the wake of the December 2012 gang rape of a 23-year-old medical student by six men.
