26 hurt in grenade attackon concert
A GRENADE exploded and injured 26 people during a concert of Romanian and Moldovan artists in Moldova's capital of Chisinau, just after the prime minister received two threatening phone calls, officials said yesterday.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the calls threatened "physical revenge."
Authorities believe the explosion on Wednesday night near the edge of the large audience was politically motivated, prosecutor Valeriu Zubco said.
Zubco said the telephone calls to Filat originated from abroad and that authorities were investigating.
Police believe there is a connection between the phone calls and the bombing, even though Filat did not attend the concert and had not planned on doing so.
A man, 25, was being sought for the grenade attack, Interior Minister Victor Catana said.
