29 missing in Indonesia's capsized boat
A boat carrying 40 people capsized this morning in Bengawan Solo river, Bojonegoro, East Java, 11 were rescued and 29 were still missing, Jakarta TV reported.
Metro TV reported that the boat hit log debris that cross over the river at 6:30am local time and capsized right then. The report said that the boat was boarded by students who were on their way to schools. Rescue team rescued 11 people from the water and rushed to the nearest hospital. The rescue effort was hindered by the murky water in the river.
Bojonegoro Police Chief Widodo said that the boat has been pulled out to the edge of the river. "But we are yet to find (all) of the passengers," he was quoted by the TV station.
The searching is still underway at the moment. No report on any foreigners boarding on that ill-fated boat.
