2nd suspect charged in Texas college shooting

A second suspect has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault in the shooting that left three wounded at a community college in the US state of Texas, authorities said yesterday.
Trey Foster, 22, who was charged with aggravated assault yesterday morning, appears to have been the actual shooter in the Tuesday afternoon shooting at the North Harris campus of Lone Star College, according to an online report by newspaper The Houston Chronicle.
Authorities also have charged the first suspect, 22-year-old Carlton Berry, with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the report.
Berry, who is Foster's friend, initially denied knowing anything about the shooting, but later told investigators that a student had "bumped" into Foster earlier in the day, and it had escalated into an argument.
Berry told authorities that Foster said he was going to fight the man if he saw him again. When he saw the man again, another argument broke out and Foster began shooting, according to court records.
Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said at least 10 shots were fired Tuesday on the campus. Jody Neal, 25, was hit in the leg and abdomen. It's unclear if Neal was the intended target of the shooting.
An innocent bystander, Bobby Cliburn, a 55-year-old maintenance worker on campus, was also caught in the crossfire and shot in the leg.
Questions still remain about the role of Berry, who was also injured. Officials said they are still trying to determine how Berry was shot in the leg and whether he at any point fired the handgun that was used.
Authorities are still searching for the weapon used in the shooting, according to reports.
