4 Chinese murdered in Papua New Guinea
Four Chinese have been killed in a bread shop in Papua New Guinea's capital Port Moresby, which was confirmed by the Chinese Embassy in Papua New Guinea today.
"The three men and a woman were in a bread shop when they were killed at around 9pm local time on Monday," the Chinese Embassy officials told Xinhua.
The victims had multiple stab wounds on their bodies, police said. Money is said to have been stolen from the shop, according to BBC News.
Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister has condemned the "brutal and cowardly attack" and called on the community to stay calm.
The premises of the shop was secured with high fences and razor wire, and the attacker or attackers were thought to have jumped over the fence into the premises, BBC News reported, quoting local newspaper The National.
"There were many knife wounds to their bodies," police commander Andy Bawa said, adding that the killings were "senseless, inhumane and barbaric".
