46 rescued after cinema roof collapses in Australia

FORTY-SIX people, who had been trapped today in a cinema collapse in Australia, have been rescued, according to the latest information from local police.

The roof of the Metro Cinema in Piper Street at Bathurst, in central west New South Wales, collapsed this noon, which was caused by heavy rains, said a spokesman for NSW Ambulance.

All the 46 people, believed to be inside the cinema at the time, have been taken out, the spokesman said.

Emergency services, with two rescue helicopters, are still in operation, searching for any possible trapped people under the rubble.
