AN earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted Nagano Prefecture and its vicinity in central Japan this morning, the Japan eteorological Agency said.
The 8:16 a.m. quake measured upper 5 on the Japanese seismic scale of 7 in Matsumoto in the prefecture, Kyodo quoted the agency as saying.
But no tsunami warning had been issued, agencies reported.
