5.7 magnitude quake hits Honshu, Japan

AN earthquake measuring 5.7 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted off the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 4:52am local time (2052 GMT) yesterday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 23.9km, was initially determined to be at 40.2563 degrees north latitude and 142.4527 degrees east longitude.
