6.2-magnitude quake hits Mexico Pacific coast

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Mexico's Pacific coast on Saturday, causing no human casualties or property damage, according to authorities.

The quake with a depth of 10 km occurred at 6:53am local time (1153 GMT) with its epicenter detected some 284 km southwest of the port city of Puerto Vallarta in the state of Jalisco, said the Mexican National Seismological Service on its website.

Mexico is prone to earthquakes as it is located right at the subduction zone between the North American, the Pacific and Caribbean plates.
