7 die in India flood

FLASH floods and landslides triggered by torrential rains have killed at least seven people in northern India, including three firefighters swept away as they helped rescue the stranded, an official said yesterday. At least 19 other people, all construction workers, were missing and may have been washed away by floods that hit the Himalayan foothills in Uttarakhand state, said a district official. They were working on a hydro-electric project, he said.
