Airport arrest for man with stun gun

A JAPANESE man was arrested on Friday after he tried to board a flight from Honolulu to Tokyo with a stun gun in his carry-on bag.

Prosecutors have charged Hiroki Suzuki with one count of carrying a concealed weapon while attempting to board All Nippon Airways Flight 1051.

An affidavit filed in the United States District Court in Honolulu said Suzuki hid the Muscle Man stun gun in a small black canvas pouch in his carry-on bag.

A security official spotted the device during an X-ray scan.

Suzuki is said to have told FBI agents he bought the stun gun in Japan about a year ago for his personal protection.

Suzuki has been released so he can attend his grandfather's funeral in Japan. But he has been ordered to return for a hearing in two weeks.

Suzuki acknowledged that he knew the stun gun was in his luggage.
