Malaysia says all search efforts now focus on southern corridor

ALL search efforts now focus on southern corridor and Malaysia would continue to narrow down the search area, said Hishammuddin Hussein, Malaysia's minister of defense and acting transport minister, during a news briefing this afternoon.

They would no longer search in the northern corridor, he said.

He said satellite data was used to pinpoint plane's location.

The minister also said Malaysia would try to recover the flight data recorder.

There is no land near the plane’s last known location in southern India Ocean and survivals were extremely unlikely, he confirmed.

MH370's contact with satellite lost between 0011 and 0115 GMT on March 8, he said
