Americans just wanna have fun, says poll

MONEY may be tight and jobless figures are high but most Americans say they still manage to have fun, according to a new poll.

Although 86 percent of people found ways to lighten their mood at least once a week, they said they are still seeking to incorporate more fun into their day-to-day lives, including at work.

Given a chance to replace their real boss, 21 percent said they thought comedian Tina Fey, the star of the TV show "30 Rock" would be a fun boss, followed by late-night talk show host Conan O'Brien and actor Steve Carell, the boss in the "The Office."

Thirty-six percent of the more than 1,000 people questioned in the telephone poll, conducted by KRC Research for the food company Nestle, also favored an afternoon siesta, or nap, which is common in some European countries.

When asked which cartoon world they would want to inhabit, 36 percent said they would opt for the futuristic world of "The Jetsons," rather than go back in time with "The Flintstones."

And despite computers, and video games, nearly half of people preferred simple pleasures, such as reading, to relax after a long day.
