Another Australian tested for Ebola virus
ANOTHER Australian who had just returned from west Africa has been admitted to hospital on Tuesday suffering Ebola-like symptoms.
A spokesperson for Perth's Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Western Australia confirmed in a statement that one patient is being tested for Ebola.
The hospitalization follows two previous cases, one involving a baby who this week had returned to Melbourne from west Africa, and another man who returned to Queensland from Democratic Republic of Congo. Both patients have been cleared of the deadly virus.
More than 2800 people have died from the Ebola virus, mainly in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigera.
An Australian health official said it was highly unlikely the Ebola virus disease would make it to Australia, but said anyone who had traveled to west African regions affected by the outbreak who were concerned about their health should visit their local doctor.
