At least 16 killed in Siberia plane crash
A twin-engine ATR-72 plane with 43 people aboard has crashed in Siberia, killing at least 16 while 12 survivors were rushed to hospital, Russia's emergencies ministry said today.
"So far we have found 12 survivors, who have been taken to hospital in Tyumen," while 16 bodies have been recovered, the Interfax news agency quoted a ministry spokeswoman as saying.
"The plane took off from Roschino airport, near Tyumen, towards Surgut (also in Siberia). According to preliminary information there were 39 passengers and four crew members aboard," the spokeswoman added.--AFP
