At least 30 die in stampede

THOUSANDS of people celebrating a water festival in Phnom Penh stampeded last night, killing at least 30 people. Hundreds more were hurt as the crowd panicked and pushed over a bridge to the mainland.

The trouble began when 10 people fell unconscious in the crowd. It set off a panic, which then turned into a stampede, with many people caught underfoot.
