Australian father of Thai surrogate baby under investigation
POLICE have called in child protection service officers to investigate the "suitability" of the Australian biological father of Thai surrogate baby Gammy following the public disclosure of his sex offenses against children.
However, on Wednesday the biological parents of the child are refusing to meet with Department of Child Protection officers who visited the couple's home. The whereabouts of the couple and their baby daughter, Gammy's twin sister, is unknown.
The man, 56, was reportedly convicted in 1998 and was jailed over indecent dealings with a child under 13.
This news came after the couple were accused of abandoning baby Gammy in Thailand because he had Down Syndrome, infected lung and a hole in the heart.
The couple have denied abandoning Gammy and said they left the boy in Bangkok after they were told the baby only had days to live.
