Blast kills 17

A CAR bomb went off outside the offices of pro-government tribal elders in northwestern Pakistan yesterday, killing at least 17 people, police said. Police official said least 30 people were also wounded in the attack in the town of Darra Adam Khel. No group immediately claimed responsibility, but the Pakistani Taliban have staged similar attacks in the tribal region to punish elders for backing security forces.
