'Bling Ring' actress jailed over Orlando Bloom break-in
A YOUNG reality TV show star was sentenced to six months jail yesterday after pleading no contest to taking part in a burglary at the Hollywood home of "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor Orlando Bloom.
Alexis Neiers, 18, who appears in the E! show "Pretty Wild" about teen girls on the Hollywood social scene, had told Los Angeles police that she was on Bloom's property last summer along with a group of mostly teenagers dubbed the "Bling Ring" for targeting celebrities.
Neiers denied having taken any property from Bloom's house in the July 2009 burglary, in which he lost artwork and watches.
Her no contest plea to a charge of burglary was equivalent under California law to an admission of guilt. Bloom had been expected to testify against Neiers if the case had gone to a full trial on Monday.
She was sentenced in Los Angeles Superior Court to six months jail and three years probation
Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson and Audrina Patridge are among other stars whose homes have been ransacked by what police have described as a group motivated by profit and celebrity worship.
Five other people alleged to be part of the ring are awaiting possible trial for the series of celebrity break-ins in which millions of dollars worth of jewelry and clothing were taken.
