Bodies of 5 Afghan policemen found in east
THE bodies of five Afghan policemen have been found in eastern Afghanistan nearly a week after the men went missing during an attack by Taliban fighters on a district seat.
Wardak provincial police chief Gen. Abdul Haq Haqnawaz said today that villagers discovered the bodies yesterday night in Chek district.
Sixteen Afghan policemen went missing Nov. 1 after Taliban fighters overran Khogyani district in Ghazni province and torched government buildings.
The bodies of four of the policemen were found a few days later in Ghazni city. Seven policemen are still missing.
Separately, a vehicle hit a mine in Helmand province today, killing five civilians. Provincial spokesman Daud Ahmadi says the blast wounded seven other civilians, including two children.
