China Expresses Serious Concern
CHINA is seriously concerned about a scheduled joint naval drill between the United States and South Korea in the Yellow Sea, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said yesterday in Beijing.
"We have expressed our serious concern to the relevant parties, and will closely follow the matter as it develops," Qin said.
The relevant parties should refrain from doing things that might escalate tensions and harm the security interests of countries in the region, Qin said.
Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army, said last week that he objected to the joint drill.
