China Worried
CHINA is deeply worried about the situation on the Korean Peninsula, which is extremely precarious and highly complex, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun said yesterday.
Zhang said China has repeatedly told both North and South Korea that a conflict would be a national tragedy, harm regional peace and affect neighboring countries.
China has made unremitting efforts through various channels in a bid to avoid tensions escalating further, he said.
State Councilor Dai Bingguo visited South Korea last month and North Korea this month. He urged both sides to show restraint and avoid any activity that could worsen the situation.
