Chinese Embassy urges Indonesia to fully investigate sexual assault on Chinese woman
CHINESE Embassy in Indonesia today strongly urged Indonesian authorities to investigate the rape case immediately and completely following local media report that a Chinese woman was raped by two security officers in Jakarta 's international airport days ago.
Chinese Embassy's consular section in Jakarta said the embassy is deeply shocked by the case and seriously concerned.
The section said the embassy has offered consular protection and assistance at the first moment and helped report to local police.
The victim chose not to stay in Indonesia despite being requested to assist Indonesian authority's investigation and has flied back to china after reporting the case to police, the section said.
The Chinese Embassy is highly concerned on this case and has lodged solemn representations with the Indonesia foreign ministry, Indonesian police and airport management.
The embassy has urged the Indonesian authority to fully investigate the case and punish the perpetrators. Besides, the embassy has also requested Indonesia to intensify protective measures for Chinese citizens in Indonesia.
According to the embassy, the Indonesian authorities have responded positively on its concern and have named two suspects. The Jakarta international airport has made public apology on the case and agreed to cooperate fully with the police investigation.
The embassy said it will closely follow up the case and take all necessary measures to protect Chinese citizens' safety and legal rights in Indonesia.
