DPRK accuses US of obstructing inter-Korean relationship

THE Democratic People's Republic of Korea said the US-South Korean Security Consultative Meeting was "full of the smell of gunpowder," being "ill-intentioned behavior to obstruct the melioration of the inter-Korean relationship," the official newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported today.

It said the DPRK had adopted a series of measures to improve the relationship between the North and South, claiming that "the tense situation on the Korean Peninsula is easing off" due to the DPRK's efforts.

Faced by the DPRK's threat, American and South Korean military authorities had allegedly demonstrated defiant behavior, which indicated that the United States and South Korea were still attempting to snuff out the DPRK by force, the report added.

It said South Korea should put a halt to its defiant military behavior immediately, for the future of the inter-Korean relationship completely depended on South Korea.

The 41st Security Consultative Meeting was attended by the highest-ranking commanders of both countries on Thursday.
