Ebola deaths near 7,000

THE number of people sickened with Ebola has passed 16,000, while the death toll from the epidemic is nearing 7,000, according to new data from the World Health Organization. The world’s largest-ever Ebola outbreak is battering the three West African countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Data released by the United Nations health agency showed there have been 16,169 cases in the three countries, with the disease spreading fastest in Sierra Leone.
