Elephant trapped in mud dramatically rescued by JCB in Kenya
AN exhausted young elephant was rescued from a mud pit in Southern Kenya after spending 12 hours trying to escape, The Telegraph reported yesterday.
Local farmers found the distressed male elephant but were unable to help the large mammal climb out of the steep pit, the report said.
Wildlife conservationists enlisted the aid of a construction company, who used their digger to plough the elephant to safety, according to the report.
Conservation scientist and wildlife photographer Jeremy Goss, 30, was on the scene to capture the video footage of the courageous rescue on farmland bordering Chyulu Hills National Park, the report said.
