Emirates plane forced to return to Sydney after engine fault

AN Emirates plane bound for Dubai was forced to turn back to Sydney Airport shortly after taking off on Sunday night, local media reported on Monday.
The passengers of Flight EK 413 heard a loud bang and saw flashes of light coming from one of the engines about half an hour after departure, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reports.
Passenger Ross Clarke said the pilots told people in the cabin that something had gone wrong on the plane's number three engine.
"The aircraft returned, dumped fuel and then landed back at Sydney after about two hours it had taken off," he said.
Emirates said in a statement that an engine fault was to blame for the incident.
"Emirates apologizes for any inconvenience caused to its customers, however the safety of our passengers and crew is of the highest priority and will not be compromised," it said.
The Dubai-based airline has offered the passengers alternative flights.
