Etihad, Gulf redirect flights to avoid conflict
TWO Gulf-based airlines said yesterday they have re-routed flights over Iraq because of the deteriorating security situation.
Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways and Bahrain’s Gulf Air announced their decisions after a similar move by Dubai-based Emirates.
Etihad said the move would avoid “conflict airspace,” while Gulf said its Europe flights will use “more secure flight paths.”
Turkish Airlines, meanwhile, said yesterday that it has resumed flights to the northern Iraqi city of Irbil.
