FBI to recover deleted data from simulator
Director of US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) James Comey yesterday said the FBI technical team will be able to retrieve computer data "shortly" that were deleted from a home flight simulator by the pilot of the missing Malaysian Airlines jet MH 370.
Comey, who was attending a Congress hearing on FBI's 2015 budget, said that "I get briefed on it every morning." He suggested that the deleted data may provide new clues to investigation on the plane, which has been missing for nearly three weeks.
According to the official, Malaysian authorities gave the FBI forensic computer materials and that the agency's review of those materials is nearly complete.
"I have teams working literally around the clock to try and exploit that," he said, adding that "I expect the work to be finished fairly shortly, within a day or two."
But Comey did not say what results he expected from the FBI's analysis.
