Fire kills at least 27 children at Mexican daycare
A fire at a daycare center in northern Mexico yesterday killed at least 27 children and injured others, the government said.
"So far, the official figures are ... 27 children dead at the place and an undetermined number of minors sent to be treated in different hospitals, Sonora state Justice Department spokesman Jose Larrinaga said on Milenio television.
He said it was unclear where or how the fire started at the daycare center in the city of Hermosillo, although Mexican media reported it broke out in a nearby tire shop.
