Five held over Hollywood thefts

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of burglarizing homes in the Hollywood Hills belonging to the rich and famous, Los Angeles police said.

Officers recovered items that "well-known celebrities" had reported stolen, police spokeswoman Rosario Herrera said, admitting she didn't know the celebrities' identities.

The suspects were taken into custody on Thursday after police served search warrants in four locations in Southern California and one in Las Vegas, police said. All were booked for investigation of residential burglary. Bail was set at US$50,000 for each.

The suspects were 18-year-olds Rachel Lee, Courtney Ames and Alexis Neiers; Diana Tamayo, 19, and Roy Lopez, Jr., 27. Police also recovered three guns and narcotics at one location.

Herrera said she didn't know if the suspects have any links to Nicholas Prugo, 18, who was arrested last month on suspicion of breaking into the homes of actresses Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge.
